Ron Wilcox of Derby, driving a March, posted Saturday's fastest qualifying time for a single lap averaging 96.7 mph on the ten-turn course. He easily won the 25 lap, Group 1 race. Wilcox, a national Guard fighter pilot led from flag to flag averaging 94.16 mph in winning his second consecutive CSR championship at Afton.
